The Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin is one of Germany's Universities that have been awarded the ‚University of Excellence‘ status in 2012. Our research group at the Institute of Biology investigates molecular and cellular mechanisms of parasite/host interactions with the aim to develop evidence-based new strategies to control parasitic diseases.
The research associate can establish an independent research direction and conduct research on an independent topic in cellular and molecular parasitology of protozoa or helminths. Teaching commitment in the BSc and MSc programs include practical and theoretical teaching phases.
Job description:
- scientific services in research and teaching in the field of molecular parasitology
- studies on cellular mechanisms in protozoa or helminths
- supervision of MSc and BSc students
- tasks for own scientific qualification (habilitation-equivalent achievements)
Requirements:
- completed scientific university degree and PhD in the field of biochemistry, molecular biology or similar
- experience in molecular parasitology, experimental genetics, biochemistry, cell biology or molecular biology
- in-depth methodological knowledge in the field of molecular cell biology, particularly of eukaryotic pathogens
- experience with cell culture techniques
- good command of written and spoken English
