Job description:
- scientific research services in the framework of a DFG funded project in the group of Prof. Janina Kneipp, studying biomolecule-nanoparticle interactions in living cells with microscopic and spectroscopic approaches
- synthesis and characterization of metallic nanostructures; preparation of samples with different cell cultures and nanomaterials; design, execution and analysis of SERS and fluorescence experiments
- possibility for own scientific qualification (doctorate in Physical Chemistry)
Requirements:
- completed scientific university education equivalent to an MSc degree at a German university with a specialization in Physical Chemistry, Biophysics or Chemical Physics, or a similar field, all with experience in experimental work
- solid knowledge in optical spectroscopy (Raman, infrared, fluorescence or similar) and good theoretical background in vibrational spectroscopy and data interpretation is required
- experience with optical setups (spectrometers, microscopes, lasers) is useful
- experience with nanomaterial synthesis and characterization is useful
- experience with cell cultures, work in sterile conditions and handling of biological samples is useful
- interest in applications of basic programming (e.g. Python, MatLab, R, C++ or similar) for data analysis is needed
- good English language skills both written and spoken
