The Distributed Computing Group at HU Berlin conducts research broadly in the theoretical foundations of distributed computing, including

  • distributed graph algorithms,
  • fault-tolerant coordination algorithms,
  • randomised algorithms and stochastic dynamics,
  • simulation and mathematical analysis of discrete, stochastic dynamics.

 

Job description:

  • scientific services in conduct research in the area of distributed computing, distributed algorithms, and related areas
  • develop techniques for the design and analysis of distributed algorithms and proving lower bounds in distributed computing,
  • publish research results in renowned journals and the proceedings of leading international conferences,
  • participate in teaching in the Distributed Computing Group
  • tasks for advancing their own academic qualifications (expansion of previous specialization, in particular expansion of the professional breadth)

 

Requirements:

  • completed scientific university Master’s degree and an excellent PhD in computer science, mathematics, or related fields
  • knowledge in the fields of theoretical computer science, discrete mathematics and/or discrete stochastic processes
  • expertise in the design and analysis of algorithms and/or discrete stochastic processes,
  • experience with solving mathematical and algorithmic problems
  • excellent scientific communication and writing skills in English
