The sub-project 1.1 (Narrative Composition in Demotic and Biblical Literature) of the ERC Grant “From Text to Literature. Egyptian Demotic Papyri and the Formation of the Hebrew Bible” (DEMBIB, Grant Number 101020304) investigates historiographical literature in the Hebrew Bible and Egyptian texts. Due to the interdisciplinary approach and the overarching literary-historical and socio-historical questions, the project pursues a comparative approach (see project description on the website:
https://www.theologie.hu-berlin.de/en/dembib).

 

Job description:

  • scientific services in research as part of the above-mentioned sub-project of the ERC project “DEMBIB”
  • work on a jointly agreed sub-topic on Demotic literature within the sub-project, preferably on papyri from Demotic archives
  • active participation in the activities of the project (including workshops and conferences) including their preparation
  • possibility to work on a habilitation

 

Requirements:

  • completed academic degree in Egyptology with a focus on Demotic studies
  • doctorate in Egyptology
  • very good written and spoken German and English skills (at least C1)
  • experience of working in an international research environment desirable
  • willingness to work in an interdisciplinary and international project team
  • good organizational skills
