The position is one of two positions within the sub-project "Linking structure and collective excitations of mol2Dmat heterostructures by fast electrons" within the Collaborative Research Centre 1772 "Heterostructures of Molecules and Two-Dimensional Materials" and focuses on the aspect of collective excitations. These excitations—such as superradiant states or various polaritons—are stimulated using an already implemented laser injection system in a transmission electron microscope (Nion HERMES). Electron energy-loss spectroscopy with an energy resolution better than 10 meV is employed to perform spectro-microscopy of photon-pumped systems with the high spatial resolution defined by the electrons. The scope of duties includes carrying out and evaluating these experiments, as well as, if necessary, preparing samples. Close collaboration with other sub-projects that produce, complementarily characterize, or model the material systems is fundamental to success. The possibility of obtaining a doctoral degree is given.
