Our research group investigates the human brain as a dynamic, interconnected system - from its molecular genetic foundations to its functional organization and behavioral implications. We use multimodal neuroimaging, including structural MRI, functional MRI, diffusion-weighted imaging, and EEG, in combination with genetic data (GWAS, bioinformatics) from large-scale population cohorts. Positioned at the intersection of biological psychology, cognitive neuroscience, and data science, our mission is to better understand the network structure of the human brain and how it contributes to cognition, aging, and mental health.

Job description:

  • scientific services in teaching and research, esp. independent research in the field of EEG and/or large-scale neuroimaging data (MRI, genetics, UK Biobank) and teaching in biological/cognitive psychology and neuroscience at the undergraduate and graduate level
  • publication of research findings
  • supervision of students and doctoral researchers
  • tasks for personal scientific qualification (habilitation)

Requirements:

  • completed scientific university education and PhD in psychology, neuroscience, computer science, or a related discipline (with preferably above-average academic performance)
  • advanced expertise in at least one of the following areas: EEG, multimodal MRI, or imaging genetics, documented through peer-reviewed publications
  • excellent programming skills (e.g. Python, MATLAB, R)
  • experience working with distributed computing resources (e.g. cluster computing under Linux)
  • proficiency in English, both written and spoken (at least C1)
  • German is an advantage
  • strong sense of responsibility, independent work style, scientific curiosity, and ability to work in a team
  • willingness to be regularly on-site in Berlin, with flexible work arrangements

We offer:

  • a fully funded postdoctoral position in a research-active and methodologically ambitious team
  • opportunity to lead the development of a new high-density EEG lab, including MR-compatible source localization setup (64 active electrodes, shielded chamber)
  • access to top-tier research infrastructure, including Siemens PrismaFit 3T MRI and highperformance computing clusters
  • integration into large-scale neurogenetic datasets (e.g., UK Biobank, HCP)
  • flexible and mobile working, but a meaningful on-site presence in Berlin is expected to foster collaboration, lab involvement, and exchange
  • freedom to shape your research profile while contributing to core projects
